Seattle Mariners Welcome Another Massive Development Following Luke Raley Exciting Injury Update
The Seattle Mariners are set to open a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs on Friday. They’ve been struggling recently, finishing May with a 13-14 record and currently sitting at 6-10 in June. Ahead of Friday’s game, the team made a roster change—activating Luke Raley from the injured list and designating Rowdy Tellez for assignment to make room.
Luke Raley

Raley had been on the IL since April 30 due to a right oblique strain. During his five-game rehab stint with Triple-A Tacoma, he impressed with a .368/.400/.579 slash line, collecting seven hits, including a double, a home run, and driving in three runs. Before the injury, however, Raley had been off to a slow start, batting .206 with 10 runs, two doubles, two home runs, eight RBI, and two steals. He’s coming off a breakout 2024 season with the Mariners, where he posted a .243 average along with 58 runs, 19 doubles, two triples, 22 homers, 58 RBI, and 11 stolen bases. His return adds depth to the lineup. With Dominic Canzone performing well in the outfield, manager Dan Wilson can now return his primary first baseman to that position. However, Raley was not in the starting lineup for Friday’s series opener in Chicago.

Tellez quickly became a fan favorite early in the season, known for his upbeat personality that helped maintain a positive atmosphere in the clubhouse. While his batting average sat at just .208, he still contributed solidly to the Mariners’ offense, tallying 20 runs, six doubles, 11 home runs, 27 RBI, and one stolen base over 62 games. He is not obligated to accept a demotion to the minor leagues.
