SDSU quarterback named one of 16 finalists for the Campbell Trophy, given annually to the top scholar-athlete in college football

SDSU quarterback  was named one of 16 finalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy, given annually to the top scholar-athlete in college football.

Each of the finalists will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the 2024 National Football Foundation National Scholar-Athlete Class Presented by Fidelity Investments. The winner of the Campbell Trophy, who will receive a $25,000 postgraduate scholarship, will be announced Dec. 10 at the 66th NFF Annual Awards Dinner in Las Vegas, Nevada

Originally from Naperville, Illinois, Gronowski has been a four-year starter and a three-time team captain for the Jackrabbits, leading the team to a combined 42-5 record and consecutive FCS national championships. He received the 2023 Walter Payton Award and was named the FCS Athletics Directors Association’s Offensive Player of the Year last season, leading the subdivision in passing efficiency with a 179.6 rating. His career stats include 8,811 passing yards and 81 touchdowns, along with 1,599 rushing yards and 30 rushing touchdowns.

In academics, Gronowski achieved a 3.76 GPA and graduated in the spring with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was named the 2023 FCS ADA Scholar-Athlete of the Year and earned second-team honors on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America® Team. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in engineering management.

Gronowski is the fifth Jackrabbit football player to be recognized as a Campbell Trophy finalist, joining Ryan Berry (2008), Zach Zenner (2014), Jake Wieneke (2017), and Taryn Christion (2018).
