Georgia Tech men’s basketball is saddened by the loss of Hall of Fame player Pres Judy, who passed away last weekend while vacationing in Hilton Head, S.C. He was 80 years old.
Coleman Preston “Pres” Judy, Jr. was a three-year starter for the Yellow Jackets from 1964 to 1967, averaging 13.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.2 assists under head coach Whack Hyder. The 6-foot-3 forward scored a total of 915 points during his collegiate career.
Originally from Lexington, Ky., Judy was a first-team all-state basketball player and a second-team all-state football player during his senior year at Henry Clay High School, where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2017. He was drafted by both the ABA’s Kentucky Colonels and the NBA’s Cincinnati Royals but chose not to pursue a professional basketball career, instead opting for coaching. His journey ultimately led to a successful tenure with Olympus Corporation of the Americas, a medical endoscopy company.
His son, Matt, also attended Georgia Tech and served as a student manager for the basketball team from 1996 to 2000.
