The most anticipated matchup of Week 1 in college football is set for Saturday afternoon, when the No. 1 Texas Longhorns travel to Columbus to face the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes.

The buildup is already massive, and it will only grow with ESPN’s “College GameDay” and Fox Sports’ “Big Noon Kickoff” both broadcasting live pregame shows from outside Ohio Stadium leading into the 12 p.m. ET kickoff.

Ahead of the showdown, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day — fresh off his first national championship last season — sat down with former college football star Brady Quinn for an interview with Fox.

During the conversation, Day offered strong praise for Texas and its highly talked-about quarterback, Arch Manning.

“What a great way to start the season, just has everybody’s attention early on which is healthy for everybody,” Day said. “They have a really good team, and [Steve Sarkisian] does a great job. They’ve got a great quarterback in Arch Manning, so it certainly has our guys’ attention. I think the atmosphere is going to be wild.”

Day later added: “[Arch] is a good player. Our guys have played against him and have a lot of respect for him. I think he’s a really good player and we respect their team. But it’s always been about us, and it will continue to be about us.”

While much of the pregame buzz has centered on Arch Manning, the Buckeyes will also debut a new quarterback in former five-star Julian Sayin, who transferred from Alabama after Nick Saban’s retirement.

Both teams return a wealth of talent, setting the stage for a showcase of premier playmakers. Ohio State welcomes back standout wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate, along with defensive anchors Caleb Downs and Sonny Styles.

On the Texas side, running back Tre Wisner and wideout Ryan Wingo highlight the offensive firepower, while pass rusher Colin Simmons and linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. are expected to challenge the Buckeyes’ offensive front throughout the afternoon.
