Alabama football coach Kalen DeBoer Sends Strong Message Georgia, Kirby Smart

Alabama Football vs. Georgia: A New Era with Kalen DeBoer

The matchup between Alabama and Georgia is nothing new, with many high-stakes games occurring over the past decade. However, this year feels different as Kalen DeBoer now leads the Crimson Tide.

This game shifts from being Kirby Smart facing his former boss, Nick Saban, to Smart competing against a new Alabama format. DeBoer has yet to face Smart but is preparing for the challenge; No. 4 Alabama will play No. 1/2 Georgia on Saturday, Sept. 28 (6:30 p.m. CT, ESPN) at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

DeBoer emphasized the significance of the game during the SEC coaches teleconference. “This is our first conference game against a top-ranked opponent,” he stated. “Facing a No. 1 or No. 2 team brings a unique challenge. We know it will be an excellent test for our team.”

While DeBoer hasn’t coached directly against Smart, he is familiar with him through offseason coaches meetings. “I’ve seen from a distance what he’s accomplished, not just at Georgia, and it’s impressive,” DeBoer noted. “He does his best to enhance the game.”

Both teams enter this matchup after open weekends; Alabama recently triumphed over Wisconsin, while Georgia secured a victory against Kentucky.
