JUST IN: Georgia’s Talented star Signs Deal With Detroit Lions

Former Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm has joined the Detroit Lions, signing a contract with the team. This move comes as the Lions seek to bolster their quarterback depth following a concussion suffered by Hendon Hooker.

After the first week of preseason games, NFL teams are finalizing their rosters ahead of the 2024 season. Some players have been released or waived, while others have been added to various teams. One notable addition is former Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm, who has been signed by the Detroit Lions, as announced on Monday.

Fromm was selected in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills. He later played for the New York Giants in 2021 and joined the Washington Commanders in 2022, remaining with them until his release earlier this year. Now, he will have the opportunity to compete with the Lions.

Jake Fromm’s journey in the NFL has been quite a rollercoaster since he was drafted. In 2021, he started two games for the New York Giants, where he managed to throw for 210 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions, completing just 45% of his passes. His professional career has seen its share of ups and downs, and he has struggled to find his footing since entering the league.

Before his time in the NFL, Fromm was a standout quarterback at the University of Georgia, where he served as the team’s starter for three seasons. He began his freshman year in 2017 as a backup to Jacob Eason, but an injury to Eason opened the door for Fromm, and he seized the opportunity. Over his college career, he accumulated impressive stats, throwing for 8,224 yards, 78 touchdowns, and 18 interceptions, with a completion percentage of 63%. Notably, he played a crucial role in leading the Bulldogs to their first-ever College Football Playoff appearance.

Fromm’s time at Georgia showcased his talent and potential, but replicating that success in the NFL has proven to be a challenge. As he continues his professional journey, fans are eager to see if he can turn things around and make a significant impact on his new team.
