Roki Sasaki had a specific request for teams in his free agent process.
apanese free agent pitcher Roki Sasaki has reportedly asked that teams avoid including their players during his recruiting visits, as reported by Bob Nightengale of USA Today.
Sasaki is currently back in Japan with his family, contemplating his decision, which he must make between January 15 and January 23, per Andy Martino of SNY. This follows his meetings with teams at the Wasserman agency’s Los Angeles offices. He may meet with a couple more teams or start narrowing down his options soon, according to Martino.
His agent, Joel Wolfe, explained during a Zoom call with reporters that market size is not a factor in Sasaki’s decision-making. Wolfe mentioned that 20 teams have contacted him with recruiting materials, and they are focusing on teams that can help enhance his pitching skills.
As for why Roki Sasaki is considering moving to MLB now?
it likely relates to his desire for new challenges and opportunities to develop further in a competitive league.
