Breaking: 5-star class of 2025 E.S commits to Duke

Right before the season kicks off, the Blue Devils have brought in a major addition for next year’s team. On Friday, Emilee Skinner, ranked as the No. 7 recruit in the 2025 class by ESPN, announced to On3 that she has decided to join Duke’s roster for next season. She becomes the first commitment for head coach Kara Lawson in this recruiting cycle.

The Millville, Utah, native was named the 2023-24 Utah MaxPreps Player of the Year, leading Ridgeline High School to a 4A state championship in Utah.

The 6-foot point guard averaged 24.1 points and 7.9 rebounds during the season, scoring fewer than 20 points in only three games and guiding her team to a 25-2 record. Skinner is expected to compete for playing time at the point guard position next season against Oluchi Okananwa and Taina Mair, and she will definitely add another dynamic presence to Lawson’s roster as she continues her successful recruiting efforts. In securing Skinner’s commitment, the Blue Devils outpaced several other programs, including Iowa, Notre Dame, and UCLA. Duke is set to start its season on November 4 against Radford.
