Just In: Nebraska adds a significant piece, a Talented 4-star running back, who chose Nebraska over Alabama, TCU

Orange County (Calif.) Lutheran High School quarterback TJ Lateef has committed to the Nebraska 2025 recruiting class. Lateef made his commitment official after visiting Nebraska during the spring game weekend, marking him as the eighth confirmed commitment for the 2025 class at Nebraska.

After his official visit to Nebraska on the weekend of April 25th, there has been little news about TJ Lateef. During his visit to Lincoln, he witnessed the annual scrimmage and was among the first group of official visitors for Nebraska’s 2025 recruitment efforts. Nebraska focused on recruiting Lateef starting in mid-February following the hiring of co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, Glenn Thomas. Thomas and co-offensive coordinator/tight ends coach Marcus Satterfield visited Lateef at his high school around the same time.

Speaking at the UnderArmour Next camp in Los Angeles later that month, Lateef mentioned to On3 that Nebraska had been the most active and consistent in recruiting him. The Huskers have been a top choice for the four-star recruit since February 16.

Within the 2025 recruiting class, Nebraska has secured eight commitments, with five of them being on the offensive side of the team. Joining the class alongside Lateef are running back Conor Booth from Wahoo (Neb.) Bishop Neumann, wide receivers Jackson Carpenter from Lincoln (Neb.) Southwest and Bryson Hayes from Maize (Kan.), as well as tight end Bear Tenney from Lehi (Utah) Lone Peak.

In the 2024 class, Nebraska recruited two high school quarterbacks – five-star prospect and Husker legacy Dylan Raiola from Buford (Ga.) and three-star recruit Daniel Kaelin from Bellevue (Neb.) West. Both were Elite11 quarterbacks who enrolled at Lincoln early for the spring semester.
