Rams Receive Positive Update on Cooper Kupp
The Los Angeles Rams got encouraging news about wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who underwent a thorough workout on Monday to assess his potential return. The team has struggled without its top two offensive targets, Puka Nacua and Kupp, affecting their passing game and overall offensive continuity. However, there’s hope for Kupp’s return.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Kupp is working to comeback from a high-ankle sprain and had a promising workout, increasing the chances he could play this week.
Head coach Sean McVay emphasized the significance of Monday’s workout in evaluating Kupp’s availability for the rest of the week and his potential return against the Las Vegas Raiders.
“He’s making good progress,” McVay said prior to Monday’s practice. “I’ll have an injury update in regards to how today goes for him. What does that affect? There is a possibility he could be ready this week. There’s also a possibility that he might not be ready. So today is a big day for him.”

McVay Emphasizes Caution with Kupp’s Return
Coach McVay stated that Kupp “understands how to align his body for a performance return, not just to play, so we want to proceed cautiously.” He also noted that the upcoming Thursday Night Football game against the Vikings will be a factor in their decision-making process.
With Kupp’s ankle showing a positive response from the extended workout, the next step is to see how he performs in an actual practice.
While Kupp won’t solve all of the Rams’ issues, particularly on defense, his return would be a significant boost for QB Matthew Stafford, as he is Stafford’s primary target. Kupp had an impressive start to the season with 18 receptions, 147 receiving yards, and one touchdown in about a game and a half before his injury.
It remains uncertain if Kupp will play against the Raiders this Sunday, but the initial challenge has been overcome. The more critical hurdle now is to keep Kupp on the field and healthy for a longer duration, an issue that has unfortunately affected both him and the team since 2022.
