Duke basketball freshman Kon Knueppel, a former five-star recruit from Wisconsin Lutheran High School, is making an impact as a full-time starter in Durham, averaging 12.2 points per game. Kon has four younger brothers—Kager, Kinston, Kash, and Kid—who are each a year apart in school. The eldest, Kager Knueppel, is quickly rising as a sophomore star for the Vikings.
At 6-foot-8, Kager is slightly taller and longer than his sharpshooting older brother, with a similar knack for hitting deep shots. He played alongside Kon on last year’s undefeated Wisconsin Lutheran team, which finished 30-0. Kager also joined Kon on Coach K Court in October during Countdown to Craziness.
Although he hasn’t yet appeared in the early national rankings for his class, Kager has already secured his first Division I offer. The Toledo Rockets extended the offer after he delivered an impressive 23-point performance last week, shooting 9-for-13 from the field and 3-for-4 from beyond the arc in a 72-59 victory over De Pere High School (Wis.).

Toledo head coach Tod Kowalczyk, a Wisconsin native, previously served as the head coach at UW-Green Bay before taking the reins at Toledo in 2010. Interestingly, the Knueppel brothers’ mother, Chari Nordgaard Knueppel, still holds the record as UW-Green Bay’s all-time leader in points and rebounds.
Through Wisconsin Lutheran’s unbeaten 6-0 start this season, Kager Knueppel has been a standout, averaging 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.3 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game. He’s shooting an impressive 62.5 percent from the field, 46.7 percent from three-point range, and 73.9 percent from the free-throw line.
As for Duke basketball, third-year head coach Jon Scheyer and his staff have yet to extend any offers for the 2027 recruiting class and may wait several months before doing so. That said, it wouldn’t be surprising if future Blue Devil wishlists for 2027, 2028, 2029, and beyond feature a Knueppel.
