Another 4-Star Blue-Chip EDGE Commits to Crimson Tide

A day after securing the second commitment to their 2026 recruiting class, the Alabama Crimson Tide added another blue-chip prospect on Friday. Four-star EDGE Jamarion “Juice” Matthews committed to Alabama after attending the school’s Elite Junior Day on February 1. “I love the atmosphere and the energy of the fans and the players at Bama,” Matthews said.

The No. 196 rated player in the country, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound defender is the No. 20 EDGE and 25th-best prospect from Georgia. Matthews chose Alabama over offers from Ole Miss, Clemson, Penn State, Arkansas, Nebraska, Florida and others. He had 57 total tackles last year, 29 TFLs and 17 sacks.

Matthews joins Chris Booker, a four-star interior offensive lineman and cornerback Zyan Gibson, the 75th-best player in the country, according to On3. The Crimson Tide has the No. 11-ranked recruiting class.

Matthews first visited Tuscaloosa in October, his first of three visits to Alabama. His former co-defensive coordinator, Chase Crowson, spoke highly of Matthews to 247Sports last fall.

“The biggest thing I see this season with Jamarion is that, not only is he a leader in the D-line room, on the field Friday night, gameplan-wise, a lot of teams are either double-teaming him or trying to run and roll away from him. He is really setting other teammates up to have a big year.

His numbers are still incredible, but they’re probably a little bit lower than we thought they’d be,” said Crowson.
