Purdue Boilermakers Receive Massive Commitment News
Talented linebacker Brayden Sweeney made his second visit to Purdue this year on Friday, now he’s the newest commitment in the Boilermaker’s 2026 recruiting class, announcing his verbal pledge via social media on Saturday.
“I committed,” Sweeney told Boiler Sports Report following his visit. “I think the brotherhood really stood out to me and the relationships between coaches and players. I feel like I’ll be able to develop really well under Coach (Michael) Scherer and it’s a place where I can fit in.”

The Grand Rapids (Mich.) Catholic Central product was offered by Purdue back in January during his Jr. Day visit to campus. It was there that he got a really good feel for the vision the new coaching staff has for the football program.
“I spent a good amount of time with Coach Scherer and defensive analyst Neal Renna,” Sweeney told 247Sports recruiting analyst Allen Trieu back in February. “Talking with them, and a little with other assistants, and Coach Odum, it was a really good staff and can definitely see myself fitting in with them.”
“Obviously facility wise, it’s sweet, but I feel Purdue can win, and that’s a huge part for me, especially playing in a conference like the Big Ten,” he said. “It has always been a dream of mine to play in the Big Ten.”
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound talent becomes the second commitment in the Boilermakers’ 2026 class, joining three-star offensive lineman Rico Schrieber.
Brayden Sweeney boasts 4.69 forty along with a 10’4″ broad jump and was First-Team, All-State selection as a junior.
