Purdue Boilermakers & Head Coach Matt Painter’ Yet Again Convey An Important Message For Fans
Purdue is set to take on one of college basketball’s storied programs at a legendary venue as part of the 2025–26 season. On Friday, the Boilermakers announced they will travel to Lexington for an exhibition game against Kentucky at Rupp Arena.
The game is scheduled for Friday, October 24. Details regarding ticket sales, TV coverage, and tipoff time will be announced at a later date.

This continues a recent trend for Purdue, which has scheduled exhibition games against top-tier opponents to gear up for the regular season. Ahead of the 2023–24 season, the Boilermakers played Arkansas in Fayetteville, and last year they faced Creighton in Omaha under head coach Matt Painter.

Purdue and Kentucky are both projected to be top contenders heading into the 2025–26 season. ESPN’s way-too-early top 25 ranks Purdue at No. 1, while Kentucky sits at No. 10.
The two programs had comparable 2024–25 campaigns, each finishing with a 24-12 record and advancing to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. Kentucky was eliminated by Tennessee at Lucas Oil Stadium in the Midwest Regional, while Purdue’s run ended with a loss to Houston, also in the Midwest Regional.
This upcoming exhibition will mark the first meeting between the two teams since 1997. Historically, Kentucky holds a 6-2 advantage in the all-time series against Purdue.
