Fans of Celtic come from all over the world, and you’d be astonished at how many people have a soft place for the Bhoys.
It is difficult to find a club with the kind of worldwide appeal that we do, and there is no question that the club is among the largest in the world in terms of iconic status and support generated.
Curiously, this phenomena also applies to players, both past and present, who may be surprised by Celtic because they were Hoops players, because they were part of the opposition at Parkhead, or because they have familial ties to the club.
After being introduced at his new team, a new Premier League player has now acknowledged his respect for Ange Postecoglou and the current Scottish Premiership champions.
Archie Gray formally signed a £40 million contract to join Tottenham Hotspur from Leeds United earlier today, according to Fabrizio Romano.
During his first interview with the North London team’s official media channels on X, the young player disclosed his affiliation with Celtic, claiming Postecoglou as a major influence in his decision to transfer to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
“I want to be a part of this massive project under Ange,” he declared. I love him, and my entire family does too; I won’t lie to you. I’m a huge Celtics fan. To be honest, I haven’t truly expressed this. He also had a big influence on my decision to join Tottenham since, as a young player, I still have a lot to learn and I like playing for a team led by a strong manager.
Although Gray’s confession of his passion for Celtic may come as a shock, there must be a connection there given that his father Andy played twice for the Tartan Army and he is qualified to play for the Scotland national team.
In any case, it’s amazing to hear him speak enthusiastically about collaborating with Postecoglou in light of the Australian’s excellent work at Parkhead. Hopefully, the two of them can find a formula for success in the English premier league.
