Wake Forest Demon Deacons coach Dave Clawson has been busy this spring, bringing in several transfers to bolster the team’s roster. Among these new additions is linebacker Branson Combs, who is set to make a significant impact on the field. Combs has played five seasons at Southern Illinois, where he has accumulated impressive stats. He has played in 49 games, recording 176 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and six interceptions. His career-high performance last season included 85 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and two interceptions.

Combs announced his transfer to Wake Forest on December 10, 2023, and is expected to have a high-impact spot on the linebacker depth chart this fall. This will be his sixth season in college football, taking advantage of the additional year of eligibility granted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
