The Philadelphia Eagles have re-signed cornerback A.J. Woods to a reserve/future deal after their Super Bowl win. Woods was with the Washington Commanders for their training camp, but after he was cut, the Eagles scooped him up and put him on their practice squad, where he remained until the end of the season.
Woods, who is a native of Germantown, Maryland, was a star on the Pittsburgh Panthers’ defense for five seasons. He ran a 4.35 40-yard dash at Pitt’s pro day after not receiving an invite to the NFL Combine, which would have been fifth-fastest among the cornerback crop there.
Woods made four interceptions, eight tackles for loss, 25 passes defended, and 105 total tacles over his five year college career at Pitt.
Now, the 23-year-old hopes that experience and athleticism can turn itself into an opportunity at the NFL level. While he stuck around on the Eagles’ practice squad through his rookie season, Woods has yet to play an NFL game and will be looking to do that in 2025.
