The University of South Dakota men’s basketball team (6-2) dominated Randall University (Okla.) (3-3) with a 112-50 win Monday night at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center (SCSC).
Paul Bruns (Sr., North Sioux City, S.D.) started the game strong, hitting a three-pointer on the opening possession and finishing the first half a perfect 7-for-7 from the field, leading all scorers with 17 points.
The Coyotes quickly established control, scoring the first six points and racing to a 16-3 lead within the game’s first five minutes. They totaled 60 points in the first half, with contributions from 10 different players.
The second half continued in a similar fashion, with South Dakota extending their lead. Bruns topped all scorers with 20 points on 8-for-9 shooting in just eight minutes of play. Jevon Hill (R-So., Wichita, Kan.) set a career high with 18 points, while Jalen Hayes (R-Fr., Richfield, Minn.) recorded his first career double-digit game with 11 points.
The Coyotes shot an impressive 62.0% (44-for-71) overall and 43.2% (16-for-37) from three-point range, while limiting the Saints to under 30% shooting for the game.
UP NEXT: South Dakota will travel to Lincoln, Nebraska, on Wednesday for their second matchup of the year against a Big Ten opponent, facing the Nebraska Cornhuskers at Pinnacle Bank Arena at 5:30 p.m.
