Paige Bueckers Makes Big UConn Announcement on a Wednesday Morning
Paige Bueckers has one last ride at UConn — and will be ending her college basketball career in style. Bueckers has reached the Final Four three times during her career with the Huskies and reached the national title game in 2022, but has yet to secure a national championship.
Though she has a promising WNBA career ahead and is projected as the No. 1 overall pick, Bueckers said she wanted to end her college career on a high note.
In a video shared by UConn basketball on March 18, Bueckers reflected on her career while holding a white UConn jersey — then shared an announcement about the team’s look for the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
“I can’t believe my time here at UConn is coming to an end, it’s been everything I ever dreamt of,” Bueckers said. “As a kid, I wanted to come here and wear this jersey with pride. It’s been an amazing journey. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I just can’t believe I’m not gonna wear this jersey again, but that’s because we have some exciting things coming soon.”

The camera then revealed Bueckers wearing a white UConn jersey with the letter “U” in red. The Huskies have adopted a similar look at times, including when Buecker was honored on senior day in March.
Bueckers has said she hopes to cherish her final run as a college basketball player.
“It’s like you know the end is near, so you’re trying to cherish it and drag it out as long as possible because you don’t want it to end,” Bueckers told People Magazine. “But yeah, it’s definitely a crazy surreal feeling. You try not to even think about it being the end.”
