With multiple big men sidelined due to season-ending injuries, the Indiana Pacers are actively exploring options to bolster their frontcourt. The team lost Isaiah Jackson and James Wiseman, leaving them with limited depth behind Myles Turner.

Indiana’s inconsistency early in the season has been partly attributed to these absences, compounded by injuries to several wing players. As the trade deadline approaches, the Pacers are poised to be active in the market, seeking the frontcourt reinforcements necessary to recapture last season’s postseason success.

A proposed mock trade suggests Indiana could address their needs by making a deal with the rival Chicago Bulls:

Pacers receive: Center Nikola Vucevic
Bulls receive: Forward Obi Toppin, wing Jarace Walker, and a 2025 first-round draft pick

For Chicago, the deal brings two wing players, including the young and promising Jarace Walker, as well as a valuable first-round pick. This aligns with the Bulls’ rebuilding efforts while giving them a reason to part ways with Vucevic, a player they’ve reportedly been looking to trade.

From Indiana’s perspective, acquiring Vucevic would add an All-Star-caliber center to complement Turner. Their combined offensive versatility—scoring inside and stretching the floor—could create significant challenges for opposing defenses.

Vucevic, a steady performer in recent years, could elevate Indiana’s offense and boost their standing in the competitive Eastern Conference. His current contract is also relatively team-friendly, paying $20 million this season and $21.1 million next season, making this move financially practical for the Pacers.

While Indiana has struggled with inconsistency, there’s still time to turn things around. Adding a proven veteran like Vucevic could enhance their chances of emerging as legitimate title contenders.
