Oregon Ducks & Head Coach Dan Lanning Announce Another Exciting News Of A Significant 5-Star Recruit
It’s been an unusual few weeks for Oregon on the recruiting front. After losing quarterback Jared Curtis to Georgia and seeing offensive lineman Kodi Greene flip his commitment to Washington, the Ducks are in need of a momentum boost. As of now, they’re ranked No. 22 nationally for the 2026 recruiting class, according to 247Sports.
Chad Simmons of On3 reports that five-star prospect Brandon Arrington is nearing a decision, with a commitment announcement scheduled for July 5.
Arrington, ranked as the No. 2 athlete in the nation by 247Sports, has narrowed his choices to five schools: Oregon, USC, Texas A&M, Penn State, and Alabama.

“It’s going to come down to the wire,” Brandon Arrington told Chad Simmons of On3. “All five schools are still in the mix. The school that recruits me the hardest, offers the best chance to play early, and can develop me the most will win out.”
When asked why Oregon made his top five, Arrington highlighted the strong connections he’s built with the coaching staff. “It’s the relationships I have with Coach Hampton and Coach Tosh,” he said. “I’m really close with Coach Hampton, and Coach Lanning checks in with me all the time. The bond I have with the Oregon staff is really strong.”

Brandon Arrington made a visit to Eugene for Oregon’s Spring Game at Autzen Stadium, where he connected with former Ducks stars Christian Gonzalez (now with the New England Patriots) and Troy Franklin (now with the Denver Broncos), as well as current players like freshman wide receiver Dakorien Moore.
Following his trip to Oregon, Arrington revealed he would be announcing his college commitment on July 5. While it’s easy to speculate that his experience in Eugene may have strongly influenced his decision, Arrington also recently had high praise for his initial visit to Penn State.

Arrington shared numerous photos from his Penn State visit on social media, even captioning one with “Loving it,” and expressed that he could envision himself as part of the program.
“What really stood out to me were the people and the atmosphere,” he told On3. “Everyone there is passionate about football—it’s all about Penn State, and I loved that. Sitting down with Coach Franklin and getting to know more about him was a highlight. He and his staff have a track record of developing talent. When they bring in top players, they coach them up and help them grow. That’s exactly what I’m looking for.”

Brandon Arrington is set to take his official visit to Oregon on June 13, followed by a final stop at USC on June 17. With no official visit scheduled for Alabama, it appears he’s narrowing his focus to Oregon, USC, Texas A&M, and Penn State.
“These official visits are going to be important,” Arrington told On3. “But I’m really looking at the little details—how they develop players, what their plan is for me, how I can earn playing time. I know nothing will be handed to me, but I also want to see fair value in NIL. Those things will play a big role in my decision.”
