Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart Sends Strong Message on Cowboys Amid Potential Interest

Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart will not only get the chance to showcase his skills and physical prowess during the workout portion of the NFL combine this week, but he’s also had the opportunity to meet with several NFL teams in Indianapolis. He spoke about his relationship with the Dallas Cowboys during his media availability on Friday.

“Yeah, I’ve met with them a little bit this week,” said Dart when asked if he’s spoken with the Cowboys. “It’s been great to form that relationship with them. … It’s been great to sit down with them and talk ball, and just start to build that relationship.”

Dart has been one of the hottest names in NFL Draft circles since his final season in Oxford ended. After a strong performance at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, the former Rebel headed to the NFL combine with much anticipation about how he’d perform.

Head coach Lane Kiffin recruited Dart through the transfer portal before the 2022 season and he broke almost every Rebels quarterback record in his three years with the program. He is not considered to be the prospect that Eli Manning was coming out of Ole Miss, but there is speculation that Dart could end up being a late first-round pick.

The Dallas Cowboys, however, could select Dart with the No. 44 pick in the draft if he is still available. Dart ending up in Dallas would mean it’ll be a few years until he is a starting NFL quarterback, but he’d have the opportunity to learn under Dak Prescott and get to play for the league’s most coveted franchise.
