Oklahoma State Receives Big News involving Nebraska Transfer Deep Threat WR

The Cowboys might be on the verge of adding a deep threat through the transfer portal. Reports indicate that they are interested in Jaylen Lloyd, a wide receiver transferring from Nebraska. Chris Hummer from 247Sports mentioned on Friday that OSU is hosting him for a visit, and he’s also planning to check out Arkansas, Kansas State, and Mississippi State.

If OSU can snag Lloyd, he could quickly become a key player in their revamped offense. Following a disappointing 3-9 season, the Cowboys are seeing a lot of their offensive talent leave, which has led to a significant number of players entering the transfer portal.

Lloyd has shown big-play potential during his two seasons at Nebraska, making 19 receptions for 492 yards and scoring three touchdowns. After appearing in 23 games, he still has two seasons of eligibility left and could join a young quarterback lineup that recently added former four-star recruit Hauss Hejny, a transfer from TCU.

Given the offseason losses in the receiver position, OSU’s interest in bringing in wideouts from the transfer portal isn’t surprising. Their top three receivers from the 2024 season won’t be returning—Brennan Presley and Rashod Owens have exhausted their eligibility, and De’Zhaun Stribling has transferred to Ole Miss.

While the Cowboys do have some returning talent like Talyn Shettron and Da’Wain Lofton to bolster their downfield game, bringing in more players will be crucial. With new offensive coordinator Doug Meacham aiming to restore OSU’s status as a top offensive team, providing his quarterback with a variety of targets will be essential.
