Ohio State football coach Ryan Day shared a concerning update about the health of offensive lineman Josh Simmons, who was carted off the field during a game against Oregon. Day noted that the outlook for Simmons returning this season is not promising. “It doesn’t look good on him coming back this season,” Day stated, according to The Athletic.
Simmons sustained his injury in the second quarter of the match, which resulted in Ohio State’s loss. His absence was significant, and he was replaced by Zen Michalski. Other players, such as Tegra Tshabola and Austin Siereveld, also stepped in to support the line. “Zen did a good job of coming in and competing,” Day remarked, as reported by Eleven Warriors. He added that Tegra had to leave for a bit, prompting Austin to take the field as well.
The Buckeyes narrowly lost to Oregon with a score of 32-31, a result that could heavily influence the Big Ten Conference title race.
Ohio State football must rebound from this loss
The Buckeyes will need to regroup and refocus after that narrow loss to Oregon. With a bye week coming up, it’s a perfect opportunity for the team to heal and reassess, but the challenge ramps up again with a tough matchup against Nebraska right after.
Losing Josh Simmons means they’ll need to rethink their offensive line strategy and figure out who will step up to fill that gap. It’s all about adaptation and resilience
