Ohio State 4-star prospect reportedly lands multimillion dollar deal with Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech outpaced Ohio State on Monday in securing four-star offensive lineman Josh Petty. A report released Wednesday revealed the financial details of Petty’s agreement with the Yellow Jackets.

According to On3, Georgia Tech and Petty have agreed to a three-year “Roster Value” deal worth at least $ 800,000 annually. A source from Florida State, which also pursued Petty, noted that his recruitment did not escalate into a bidding war.

Petty’s father, James Petty, shared with On3 that education was a significant factor in his son’s decision, along with the potential for NIL earnings.

“My son and other athletes now have the chance to establish a financial foundation that will help them transition into life and tackle some affordability challenges,” stated James Petty.

ESPN and The Athletic have unveiled their preseason All-America honors, highlighting former Alabama transfer safety Caleb Downs as a standout expected to shine in his debut season with Ohio State. Both publications named him a preseason first-team All-American on Wednesday.

ESPN recognized five Buckeyes for their preseason performances, with running back Quinson Judkins, offensive guard Donovan Jackson, defensive tackle Tyleik Williams, and cornerback Denzel Burke receiving second-team accolades.

The Athletic particularly praised Jackson, selecting him as a first-team member alongside Downs. Wide receiver Emeka Egbuka and Williams also earned second-team recognition.
