Rated Star will be missing two crucial teammates for the game against the Texans

On Sunday, the Jacksonville Jaguars will face the Houston Texans in their first divisional game of the season. However, Trevor Lawrence will be missing two important teammates for this crucial matchup.

The 2024 NFL season has been challenging for the Jaguars. Although they were anticipated to be strong competitors in the AFC South, they have not met those expectations thus far.

Recently, Trevor Lawrence secured a substantial contract extension, which has increased expectations for his performance. Nonetheless, he has faced difficulties playing with a full roster, and now he will be without two teammates in the upcoming game against Houston.

Two offensive players of the Jaguars sidelined for the Texans game.

Analysts had high hopes for the Jaguars this season. The team has made considerable strides since Trevor Lawrence’s arrival, surrounding him with talented players to enhance his chances of success.

Earlier this year, the Jaguars signed Gabe Davis to a three-year, $39 million deal. As the team’s WR2, Davis brings experience and is anticipated to be a significant target for Trevor Lawrence.

Another vital asset for Lawrence is Evan Engram, regarded as one of the league’s top tight ends. He had his best receiving yards season last year, but injuries have affected his performance in 2024.

As they prepare for the Week 4 matchup against the Texans, both Davis and Engram will be unavailable. Davis is listed as questionable due to a shoulder injury, while Engram has been ruled out with a hamstring issue.

Unfortunately, the Jaguars are lacking depth at both wide receiver and tight end. Brian Thomas Jr. is anticipated to step in for Davis as the WR2, while Brenton Strange will take Engram’s place on Sunday.

Trevor Lawrence signed a significant contract extension with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2024. The agreement is valued at $275 million over five years, with $200 million guaranteed, positioning him among the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL.

The Jaguars view Trevor Lawrence as the cornerstone of their franchise, securing him with a long-term deal following his impressive performances in his first three seasons. This contract extension demonstrates their confidence in his potential to lead the team to success as he evolves into one of the top quarterbacks in the league.
