Penn State will have to find a new running backs coach. Ja’Juan Seider, the team’s running backs coach since 2018, is leaving to take the same position at Notre Dame, a source with knowledge of the situation told the Centre Daily Times.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel first reported that Seider was the target of Notre Dame’s search. 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz first reported that Seider is expected to accept the position. Seider held the run game coordinator title for Penn State from 2020-2021 and became co-offensive coordinator in 2022.

He then added the assistant head coach title in 2023. He’s the second assistant coach to leave the program this offseason after defensive coordinator Tom Allen departed to become Clemson’s DC.

The Nittany Lions replaced him with Ohio State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles and made their new hire the highest paid DC in college football. Seider will join the Fighting Irish after they ended Penn State’s 2024 season in the College Football Playoff semifinal, 27-24.
