North Carolina dealing with significant issue ahead of NCAA Tournament
The NCAA Tournament journey for the North Carolina Tar Heels has gotten off to a tumultuous beginning.
On Monday, the team encountered considerable travel issues as they prepared for their First Four game in Dayton, Ohio. According to Luke DeCock from The News & Observer, both their press conference and practice were postponed due to delays with their NCAA-provided charter flight.
The Tar Heels were expected to arrive in Dayton around 4 p.m. local time, but delays pushed their arrival to approximately 6:30 p.m., about 40 minutes after their press conference was supposed to begin.
Those who believe in omens might interpret this as a negative sign for a North Carolina team that many argue shouldn’t even be in the tournament. Their selection has stirred controversy over the past day, further fueled by their athletic director’s involvement in the decision-making.
Fortunately, there’s no concern about North Carolina being unprepared for their First Four matchup against San Diego State, scheduled for after 9 p.m. on Tuesday. However, some people might find enjoyment in the challenges the Tar Heels are facing due to these travel disruptions.
As narrow favorites in Tuesday night’s game, the Tar Heels are likely eager to silence their critics with a win.
