NHL referees have long faced scrutiny, a trend that continues after the recent matchup between the Anaheim Ducks and the Colorado Avalanche.
In their game last night, the Avalanche secured a much-needed overtime victory. However, one particular moment has fans buzzing.
In the clip below, the Ducks clearly sent the puck out of bounds, which should have resulted in a stoppage in play. Instead, the game continued, allowing the Ducks to score later in the play. This controversial call has sparked a lot of discussions among fans.

Ryan Strome‘s goal gave the Ducks a 2-0 lead, which could have spelled disaster for the Avalanche, especially since they had to rally just to secure a win. We can only imagine the helplessness and frustration that Avalanche fans and players experienced. It’s a sentiment that every NHL fan has likely felt at some point in their lives.

The NHL really needs to address this issue. We’ve known for years that the officials across the league have their shortcomings, and this situation only confirms that. Hopefully, they can improve and become much better moving forward
