News Update: Chase, the son of Kirk Herbstreit, has committed to Michigan….

QB prospect Chase Herbstreit, the son of ESPN pundit and former Ohio State quarterback Kirk Herbstreit, has formally committed to the University of Michigan, which is a big step for college football and his family. On3 Sports reports that Chase will be a member of the Wolverines’ 2025 recruiting class.

Chase, the youngest son of ESPN’s lead college football and Amazon Prime NFL analyst, made the decision to continue his athletic journey at Michigan after a promising high school career. He moved from Nashville to Cincinnati as a ninth grader and quickly established himself as the starting quarterback for Ohio powerhouse St. Xavier. Herbstreit impressed coaches and fans alike, taking over midway through his sophomore season and leading St. Xavier to two crucial wins in their final regular-season games and a victory in the first round of the state playoffs.

His competitive spirit and the intangibles are really unique with him, said Kirk Herbstreit, speaking to On3. You hear those sayings about whether he’s playing you in ping-pong, golf or 1-on-1 hoops, he’s going to be that guy you don’t want to go against because he’s going to find a way to win or say, ‘Okay, we’re playing gain.’ And that’s how he is on the football field, ultra-competitive, which I think is really important at that position.

Chase Herbstreit’s commitment to Michigan adds a new chapter to the Herbstreit family’s football legacy, with his father’s storied career at Ohio State and as an analyst and his own budding career as a top quarterback prospect. The future looks bright for Chase as he brings his drive and competitiveness to Ann Arbor.
