The New York Yankees have been one of the most dominant teams this season, boasting a 42-31 record and leading the AL East. Their success has stemmed from a well-rounded offense that ranks second in the league in both on-base percentage and home runs, averaging 5.1 runs per game.

A major factor in that offensive surge has been superstar Aaron Judge, whose impact at the plate has not only elevated his own performance but also provided protection for the hitters around him.

But amid a six-game losing streak, the Yankees’ offense has gone cold. Judge has reached base only twice since the start of their weekend rivalry series against the Boston Red Sox, and the team has now endured a 30-inning scoreless drought, including back-to-back shutouts by the sub-.500 Los Angeles Angels.

According to Katie Sharp of Sports Reference, the Yankees’ current slump is just the second time in franchise history they’ve endured six or more consecutive losses while scoring seven or fewer total runs over a seven-game stretch. The last time this happened was from September 1 to 7 in 1908.

Wednesday’s loss—sealed by a late-game error from Anthony Volpe—marked the Yankees’ sixth consecutive defeat, with the Tampa Bay Rays now just 1.5 games behind them in the standings.

Speaking on the team’s struggles as the All-Star break nears, Judge remained composed:
“You play 162, you’re gonna hit a little rut like this,” he said. “But you can’t give up. You can’t mope about it.

The #Yankees snapped their scoreless streak, but not their losing streak, only scoring twice while Anthony Volpe made an error.

Despite his recent struggles, the superstar’s overall performance this season still places him as the leading contender for another American League MVP award. He’s hitting .366 with 26 home runs and 60 RBIs over 73 games for the division-leading Yankees.

Judge’s remarks indicate confidence that brighter days are ahead for the Bronx Bombers over the course of the long 162-game season.
