New York Historic $765 Million contract Of A Talented Right fielder, Left fielder has fans losing their minds

As the MLB Winter Meetings kicked off, all eyes were on the outcome of the Juan Soto sweepstakes. Fortunately, the wait wasn’t long. On Sunday night, Soto signed a ground-breaking $765 million deal with the New York Mets, marking the biggest contract in North American sports history.

Soto is definitely not the Mets’ only acquisition during free agency. Earlier in the offseason, New York also brought in Frankie Montas, and more recently, they added Clay Holmes to strengthen their starting rotation. However, there’s no doubt that Soto represents the most significant signing the Mets have made in a long time. Fans anticipated some major news regarding this situation on Sunday night and were eager to express their reactions once it was announced. Many took to social media to share their thoughts on Soto’s momentous contract with the Mets.

This isn’t the first time a New York sports team has handed out a 15-year contract. Reporter David Pagnotta from The Fourth Period pointed out a notable example from hockey: the New York Islanders’ deal with Rick DiPietro. He humorously suggested that this contract was a sign of things to come. “In 2006, the #Isles signed Rick DiPietro to an unprecedented 15-year contract… 18 years later, it seems they’re trendsetters in the region,” Pagnotta tweeted in reaction to the Soto news. Some Mets fans seized the chance to celebrate the signing of Juan Soto, also taking jabs at his former team, the New York Yankees. They jokingly commented on the prospect of Soto causing problems for the Yankees in the future.

Other fans also jumped in with their reactions. “We all wanted Juan Soto to play with the Red Sox but not giving him $765 Million and him not signing with the Yankees is a win-win situation,” one Boston fan posted on Sunday night.

Yankees fans took to social media to share a variety of reactions. One fan was rather stern with their reaction. “F**k Juan Soto. F**k Steve Cohen. F**k Scott Boras,” they said. “I haven’t figured how to do it in a tweet that makes sense but the letters in Juan Soto’s name are close enough that you can almost spell ‘judas.’ That’s all I’ve got at the moment thanks,” another fan wrote  in reaction to the news.

This is a historic moment in the game of baseball. No matter how things turn out, this contract between Soto and the Mets will be discussed for years to come. And it certainly could help reignite the Subway Series between the Mets and Yankees moving forward.
