Nebraska Cornhuskers just rolled out a new way to put NIL money in players’ pockets

Let it never be said that the Nebraska Cornhuskers athletic department isn’t always working hard to find new ways to bring in NIL funds. That’s why those in the know believe the Huskers have some of the best initiatives in the country.

Football gets the most mention when it comes to fundraising. Whether it’s NIL or whether it’s donations to the school by allowing fans to donate money per win, things are already moving quickly in this new era.

On Thursday, just days before the Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball season tips off, the program announced a new way to get NIL money directly into the pocket of a specific player. The Nebraska NIL Store is an online portal where fans can buy officially licensed merchandise that are each assigned to Nebraska players.

Nebraska Cornhuskers has its own NIL store

Using the Nebraska NIL Store, the idea is that if someone wanted to get buy a sweatshirt that has the slogan “Nice Like Brice” invoking basketball star Brice Williams, they can go to this site and buy it. And the vast majority of the proceeds don’t just go to the basketball team. They go to Brice Williams specifically.

Want an Isaac Gifford jersey? Fans can buy that at this portal. And again, the money will go directly to Gifford.

While the store is launching just ahead of the Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball season, it’s far from basketball-only. It appears that just about any NU sports are on the site, right down to the rifle team. This truly means that fans who want to donate money to a specific athlete—especially those who might not be in the spotlight as often as Football, basketball, and volleyball—have a way to do so.
