Nebraska Cornhuskers Football Receives Massive Transfer Portal News

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are coming off a solid season compared to previous years. They finished 7-6 and won their first bowl game since 2015, beating the Boston College Eagles in the Pinstripe Bowl. It was also their first winning season since 2016 when the team went 9-4.

One of the most efficient parts of Nebraska’s team was the defense, which ranked 17th in points per game allowed (19.5) and 18th in total yards per game allowed (317.9). After already coming off a good year, the unit will be getting a big boost after Rhule and the Cornhuskers received a commitment from transfer cornerback Marquis Groves-Killebrew.

Coming out of high school in 2022, 247Sports had Groves-Killebrew as a four-star prospect, the No. 15 cornerback and the No. 114 player in the nation. He would originally sign with Texas A&M and recorded just two tackles his freshman year but transferred to Louisville in 2023, where he did not have a single statistic. After finding his way to Arizona in 2024, he had his most productive year, accumulating 26 tackles, four pass deflections and one sack.

Groves-Killebrew is also far from the first high-level defensive player that Nebraska and Rhule have added through the portal. He also joins four-star EDGE Williams Nwaneri, four-star linebacker Dasan McCullough, three-star cornerback Andrew Marshall and three-star safety Justyn Rhett.
