Nebraska Announce Another Sudden News After Tow Top Players Flip Their Commitment

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports that safety Isaac Gifford has signed with the Carolina Panthers after going undrafted. Gifford, who played college football at Nebraska, is now heading east to start his professional career in the NFL.
“Former Nebraska safety Isaac Gifford — younger brother of #49ers linebacker Luke Gifford — is signing with the #Panthers, per source,” Pelissero shared on X (formerly Twitter).
Gifford grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska, and played high school football at Lincoln Southeast. He was a three-star recruit in the 2020 class and ranked No. 1,192 nationally, according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a composite score based on evaluations from major recruiting services.
Although Gifford was in college for five years, he never redshirted. Because he played during the 2020 season impacted by COVID-19, he was granted an extra year of eligibility. Nebraska benefited from this, keeping one of their key defenders on the roster for an extended period.
In his final college season (2024), Gifford played in all 13 games, recording 73 tackles and four tackles for loss. While his career spanned five seasons, it was the last three years where he truly stood out for the Cornhuskers.
Before the 2024 season, Gifford reflected on the culture at Nebraska, saying:
“Growing up in Nebraska, family has always been really important to us. So for Coach Rhule to emphasize that same value at Nebraska means a lot. It fits who we are as a people and as a state. That’s why we don’t see as much player turnover here like you do in other programs — guys like it here. They buy into the family atmosphere and our shared goals.”
According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the Baltimore Ravens have added wide receiver Jahmal Banks to their roster as an undrafted free agent. Banks, who played his final college season with the Nebraska Cornhuskers, now begins his journey in the NFL after going unselected in the 2025 Draft.
The Ravens confirmed the signing on X, noting: “#Ravens signing Nebraska wide receiver @HuskerFootball’s Jahmal Banks to an undrafted deal, per a source.”
During his time at Nebraska, Banks proved to be a reliable target, finishing the season with 44 receptions for 587 yards and three touchdowns. Two of those scores came in key Big Ten matchups, finding the end zone against Purdue and Wisconsin. Nebraska appreciated his contributions throughout the year, and now Banks gets the opportunity to showcase his talent at the professional level.
