Just In: Former Georgia Football Star Player Suffers Season Ending Injury

Former Georgia Tight End Brett Seither Suffers Season-Ending Injury at Georgia Tech.

As the 2024 college football season approaches, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets head coach Brent Key delivered some unfortunate news regarding former Georgia Bulldogs tight end Brett Seither. Key announced that Seither will miss the entire 2024 season due to a knee injury.

Seither, who spent four seasons at Georgia before transferring to Georgia Tech as a graduate student, arrived in Atlanta with two years of eligibility remaining. During his time with the Bulldogs, he caught four passes for 54 yards and one touchdown in 27 games.

In his first and only season with the Yellow Jackets in 2023, Seither played in 13 games, recording seven receptions for 101 yards and four touchdowns. His 28-yard reception against Georgia in the rivalry matchup was a notable highlight.

Seither’s transfer to Georgia Tech was part of a larger movement that also included former Georgia wide receiver Dominick Blaylock and the hiring of former Georgia staff member Buster Faulkner as the Yellow Jackets’ offensive coordinator. Additionally, former Georgia tight end Ryland Goede joined the team after spending a season at Mississippi State.

With Seither sidelined for the 2024 season, Georgia Tech will look to Avery Boyd, Jackson Hawes, Goede, Luke Harpring, and David Prince to step up at the tight end position.

Georgia Bulldogs Wrap Up Fall Camp, Prepare for Clemson.

As the Georgia Bulldogs wrap up their fall camp portion of the preseason, they set their sights on their highly anticipated season opener against the No. 14 ranked Clemson Tigers. The Bulldogs enter the season as the consensus No. 1 ranked team and are expected to be heavy favorites over the Tigers.

However, the Bulldogs are not without their fair share of injuries as they exit fall camp. Head coach Kirby Smart recently spoke with the media and provided updates on the team’s injury situation:

Roderick Robinson: “Dealing with a little bit of a turf toe, don’t know when he’s going to be available. We had a good group of backs on Saturday.”

Warren Brinson: “Warren’s been working his way back, I think 75, 85% on the GPS metrics. That was an Achilles coming into camp, think we should be able to get him back soon. Will know more today.”
Jared Wilson: “Jared Wilson has been dealing with a bit of an Achilles as well, but he was back in a limited role on Saturday so he’s back.”
Xavier McLeod: “Been dealing with a little bit of an injury we don’t know when we will get him back.”
Smael Mondon: “Smael’s been a participant in camp. He’s on track.”

Injury Report (8/13)

Roderick Robinson has been dealing with a little bit of a toe issue.
Jared Wilson is doing well, he’s dealing with a bit of Achilles tendinitis.
Chaz Chambliss is dealing with a hamstring tightness that’s been bothering him.
Branson Robinson: “Will start practice without limitation but there will be a monitor on him.”
Jordan Hall: “Jordan Hall had a stress fracture in his tibia and he has had the same injury on the other shin it seems. He’s had the same injury to the left and the right. He’s going to be back but we don’t know the timeline of that.”
Chris Peal: “Had Labrum surgery this offseason.”
Smael Mondon: “Is able to do some stuff, not everything. He’s almost back.”
Warren Brinson: “Achiles tendon, he will be in and out. We injected it and he should be back shortly.”

Despite the injury concerns, the Bulldogs remain focused on their season opener against Clemson. As they transition from fall camp to game preparation, the team will look to overcome these challenges and start their title defense on a high note.

Watch: Commit to Georgia Football JJ Hanne’s Reaction on Receiving Georgia’s Offer.

Jayden-Jamal ‘JJ’ Hanne’s Heartfelt Reaction to Georgia Offer.

Not every high school football recruitment follows the same path. Some players receive numerous Power 5 offers as soon as they finish middle school, while others emerge onto the scene later in their high school careers. Some take a chance on football and it turns into a career. Current Georgia commit Jayden-Jamal ‘JJ’ Hanne falls into the latter category, and a video shared on social media captures his awesome reaction when he learned he received an offer from the University of Georgia.

Hanne, a California native who moved from Germany, has only been playing football for a couple of years. Despite being rated as a three-star prospect, his ceiling is much higher than his ranking suggests. At 6’5″ and 280 pounds, Hanne possesses great athletic traits and tremendous size, which has attracted many major Power 5 programs to his recruitment.

In June of this year, Hanne received an offer from the University of Georgia, and the video on social media shows his heartfelt reaction to the news[1]. He would later commit to Georgia in late July, becoming part of one of the top recruiting classes in the country and joining one of the biggest college football programs in the nation after just a few years of playing the sport.

After just a few years of football play, Hanne would subsequently pledge to Georgia in late July. He is currently a member of one of the nation’s top recruiting classes and will play for one of the biggest programs in college football.

Georgia football players are widely distributed in ESPN’s list of the top 100 college football players.

There’s no denying that the Georgia Bulldogs boast one of the most talented rosters in college football this season—arguably the most talented. This is a key reason why many consider them favorites to win the national championship. Some experts even speculate that Georgia might break their own NFL draft record after this season, a notion supported by ESPN’s top 100 college football players list.

The Bulldogs secured six spots on this prestigious list, with two players ranked in the top 10 and four within the top 30. Given the challenging regular season schedule ahead, Georgia will need to rely heavily on these standout players, which is why analysts still believe they can clinch the SEC title this year. Here’s a breakdown of where each player ranked and what ESPN had to say about them:

RB Trevor Etienne, No. 83.

“The Bulldogs typically rotate their running backs, but they may lean more on Etienne, who led Florida in rushing average (68.4 ypg), rushing touchdowns (8), and yards per carry (5.7) last fall. The younger brother of Jacksonville Jaguars running back Trevor Etienne, he scored three rushing touchdowns against LSU last season and also contributed as a receiver with 21 catches and 224 kickoff return yards.”

LB Jalon Walker, No. 67.

“After serving as a reserve in his first two seasons, Walker is expected to take on a larger role this fall. He led Georgia with five sacks and forced a fumble against Florida. As a former ESPN top-40 recruit, he could see his stock rise in the NFL draft with a strong junior season.”

EDGE Mykel Williams, No. 30.

“Williams is projected to be a first-round pick by the time the NFL draft rolls around next April. The 6’5″ junior from Columbus, Georgia, started 10 games last season, recording 18 tackles, 11 solo tackles, and 4.5 sacks. He is expected to be one of the most disruptive players in college football.”

OG Tate Ratledge, No. 17.

“Ratledge plays a crucial role in protecting quarterback Carson Beck. He started at right guard for 13 of Georgia’s 14 games, contributing to an offensive line that ranked first in the SEC for fewest sacks allowed (0.93). He was named a second-team All-American in 2023.”

S Malaki Starks, No. 10.

Starks has been a starter since his true freshman year and has become a cornerstone of Kirby Smart’s defense over the past two seasons. The 6’1″, 205-pound junior was a consensus All-American last year, finishing fourth on the team with 52 total tackles and recording three interceptions. He was also a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Award, recognizing the nation’s top defender.

QB Carson Beck, No. 7.

“In his first season as a starter, Beck ranked third nationally and first in the SEC with 3,941 passing yards, boasting a 72.4 completion percentage that placed him fourth in the nation. He threw 24 touchdown passes, rushed for four more, and was intercepted only six times in 417 attempts. The 6’2″, 220-pound senior could be the first quarterback selected in the 2025 NFL draft.”

Interestingly, none of Williams, Walker, or Ratledge made ESPN’s top 100 players list last season, highlighting the significant growth and potential of Georgia’s roster heading into this year.

ESPN Analyst Predicts Georgia Football Will Be the Top College Football Playoff Seed.

The start of the 2024 college football season is just over two weeks away, and the Georgia Bulldogs are gearing up to kick things off against the Clemson Tigers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. As the top-ranked team in college football, Georgia enters the season as a strong favorite, having only missed the SEC Championship once since 2017. According to prominent college football analyst Rece Davis, that trend is unlikely to change this year.

Davis not only predicts that the Bulldogs will win the SEC but also believes they will secure the top seed in the inaugural 12-team playoff. “My number one seed? SEC Champion – University of Georgia,” he stated on the College Gameday Podcast.

To achieve this, Georgia will need to navigate a challenging schedule, but Davis feels that the Bulldogs’ talent will shine through. “Georgia is the anti-schedule pick. This is the belief that, if you are good enough, you’ll win the games anyway,” he explained. Despite tough road games against Alabama, Texas, and Ole Miss, Davis remains confident in Georgia’s abilities.

With the expanded playoff format this year, teams are no longer under pressure to maintain a perfect record to qualify. Georgia went undefeated in the regular season for the third consecutive year last season but was eliminated after a loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship. This year, even with a regular-season loss, winning the conference title would guarantee them a top-four seed and a first-round bye due to the auto-bids for conference champions.

Georgia’s season opener against Clemson is just the beginning, as they will face Alabama three weeks later. If the Bulldogs manage to complete a fourth straight undefeated regular season, it could be regarded as one of the most impressive 12-game stretches in college football history, considering the challenges they will have faced along the way.
