In order to even the best-of-seven Western Conference final at two games apiece, the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Dallas Stars 5-2 on Wednesday night.

For his local Oilers, who will play Game 5 in Dallas on Friday, Connor McDavid got three assists.

REACTIONS

In Game 4, the Stars took an early 2-0 lead before the Oilers responded with five goals in a row.

The series went to a best-of-three set as five different Edmonton players found the back of the net.

In the NHL’s history, this is the second conference final or semifinal to include back-to-back comeback victories with multiple goals.

The other was the conference final between Chicago and Edmonton in 1992.

WEST TIME

The remaining Western Conference final games have their start times determined.

Game 5’s puck drop is scheduled for Friday in Dallas at 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

In Edmonton, Game 6 will start on Sunday at 8 p.m. (ET).

Should a decisive seventh game be necessary, it will take place in Dallas on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. (ET).

OPPORTUNITY THREE

Game 5 of the Eastern Conference final takes place in New York on Thursday night.

After tying the series at two games apiece on Tuesday with a 3-2 overtime victory at home, the Florida Panthers are feeling quite confident.

In the event that a best-of-seven series is tied after four games, the series is won 79% of the time by the winner of Game 5.

OUT OF THIS WORLD

The final three games of the Eastern Conference final have gone into overtime.

In the round preceding the Stanley Cup final, overtime was required in back-to-back games for the third time in NHL history.

The other two were the 1933 semifinals between Boston and Toronto and the 2001 conference final between Colorado and St. Louis.

WOMAN BYNG

On Thursday, the NHL will announce the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy winner.

Along with Jaccob Slavin of Carolina, Auston Matthews of Toronto and Elias Pettersson of Vancouver are vying for the title.

The player who is deemed to have shown the highest level of gentlemanly conduct and sportsmanship in addition to possessing exceptional playing talent is given the trophy.

The previous year’s winner was forward Anze Kopitar of the Los Angeles Kings.
