On Monday, WVU football got some injury updates on a pair of offensive starters who left the game against Ohio – and it’s not the news Mountaineer fans were hoping for.
According to Matt Zenitz with CBS Sports, starting West Virginia running back Jahiem White is set to miss the remainder of the 2025 season with a knee injury that he suffered against the Ohio Bobcats in Week 2. Mike Casazza of EerSports also reported around the same time that wide receiver Jaden Bray would also be missing the remainder of the season due to a foot injury – Bray also left the game in Athens injured and did not return. One bit of good news was that Casazza reported that linebacker Reid Carrico, who left the Ohio game early with an injury as well

White was heavily hyped in the preseason as one of the more critical pieces to the WVU offense after rushing for over 1,600 yards and 11 touchdowns while splitting carries with other running backs during his freshman and sophomore seasons. He ended up leading the Mountaineers in rushing yards in both Week 1 and Week 2, despite leaving the game against Ohio with his injury in the first half. White still has one season of eligibility remaining, and could be granted a medical redshirt for this season.
For Bray, it’s the second season in a row he’s been dealt a season-ending injury in non-conference play after he transferred into the program from Oklahoma State following the 2023 season. Whether or not he attempts to be granted another medical redshirt and returns next season to finish his career remains to be seen.
