
Greg Sharpe, a Nebraska announcer, passed away on Friday evening after bravely fighting pancreatic cancer. He was 61 years old.
Sharpe took on the role of football announcer in 2008 and served in that position for 17 seasons. That same year, he also began broadcasting baseball, quickly becoming a beloved voice among Nebraska fans.
Most recently, he was honored as the 2024 Nebraska Sportscaster of the Year, marking the second time he received this accolade in his broadcasting career. His family shared a statement following the news of his passing.
“The outpouring of love during this challenging time has profoundly affected Greg and our family. We are eternally thankful to Husker fans everywhere for their letters, gifts, and, most importantly, their prayers. We are all fortunate to have had Greg in our lives.”
For 17 years, Greg Sharpe spoke past the microphone and into our hearts.
His legacy will be woven into the moments he narrated and carried on through the relationships he built.

Sharpe is survived by his wife, Amy, and daughters Emily, Campbell, and Taylor. Further information regarding memorial services will be provided later.
