Minnesota Wild finally complete a One-Year deal of an outstanding forward.

Forward Sammy Walker has signed a one-year, two-way deal ($775,000/$125,000) with the Minnesota Wild, the National Hockey League (NHL) team announced today. Bill Guerin, President of Hockey Operations and General Manager, made the announcement. Walker will play in the 2024–25 season.

Walker, 24, made four appearances for Minnesota in the previous campaign. In addition, the right-shot forward skated in 70 games for the American Hockey League’s (AHL) Iowa Wild, registering 176 shots on goal, three power play goals (PPG), three game-winning goals (GWG), and 45 points (14-31=45). Walker led Iowa in points, assists, and shots while finishing third in goals scored. In 13 games played with Minnesota over his career, he has two points (1-1=2). On December 10, 2022, Walker made his NHL debut against Vancouver, and on December 27, 2022, he scored his first NHL goal against Winnipeg.

In 126 career AHL games over two seasons with Iowa (2022–24), the 5-foot-11, 180-pound product of Edina, Minnesota, has 93 points (41–52=93), 12 PPG, eight GWG, and 294 shots. In 2022–23, Walker placed third in goals, tied for sixth in scoring, and second in GWG (5) among AHL rookies. Over his four seasons at the University of Minnesota (2018–22), he scored 112 points (48–64=112) and accumulated 81 penalty minutes (PIM) in 144 games. During his final three seasons, he led the team as captain. Walker, who was first chosen by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the seventh round of the 2017 NHL Draft (200th overall), agreed to an entry-level, two-year contract with Minnesota on August 18, 2022.
