Mike Elko made a significant announcement about the 2025 Spring Game

With the rise of the transfer portal, the Spring Game has started to become one of the common casualties of modern college football. In recent weeks, Texas, Nebraska, and many other power programs have decided to cancel their spring games.

Mostly, teams are scared of other programs watching the game and throwing huge NIL offers at the standouts to come transfer to their program, something noted a couple years ago with the Colorado spring game. In that game, WR Montana Lemonious-Craig had a great game, but decided to transfer to Arizona soon after.

Ultimately, Texas A&M fans should have very little to worry about. With the vast NIL funds the Aggies possess, as well as mostly open competitions for positions, the issue of people transferring after having a good game is a relative non-factor for Texas A&M. As well, it’s a team that stuck together after last season. The Aggies are returning 71% of their production from last season, with ranks 6th in the nation and FIRST in the SEC.

With the past couple seasons being plagued by huge transfer portal exodus periods, having a team that returns so much production is incredibly valuable for building on the previous season.

For the game itself, Aggies fans can expect it to look similar to the 2024 Spring Game – a draft, followed by a spring game that is as close to an actual game as Elko and Co. can recreate. This team is built tough and it’s got some of the best talent in the nation stocked up at essentially every position.

The Aggies loaded HS recruiting class is also something to look forward to. Ranking No. 9 in the nation, it’s expected that impact freshman can be immediate contributors. However, the crown jewel of this class, five-star WR Jerome Myles, will not play in the spring game. He will not enroll until the summer due to track obligations. Otherwise, expect contribution from basically every Aggie on the roster in the Spring Game.
