Michigan football trending to land major four-star defender this weekend

The Wolverines are in a strong position to secure the talented four-star defensive back.

Jayden Sanders, a 2025 four-star cornerback, is set to make his commitment on Saturday. He is down to three schools, with Michigan competing against Baylor and Oklahoma State for his commitment. While the fight for Sanders continues, it seems Michigan currently holds the advantage.

On3’s Vice President, Steve Wiltfong, has made an expert prediction that Sanders will choose Michigan. Additionally, there are three other expert predictions favoring the Wolverines on On3, while 247Sports has not recorded any Crystal Ball predictions for Sanders.

According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, Michigan has a 97.1% chance of landing Sanders.

Sanders, hailing from Kilgore, TX, is ranked as the 318th best prospect and the 30th cornerback for the 2025 class according to 247Sports’ Composite rankings. Standing at 6 feet 2 inches, he would join two other defensive backs already committed to Michigan’s ’25 class, making a total of three strong verbal commitments if he chooses the Wolverines.

Here’s a scouting report on Sanders from 247Sports’ Gabe Brooks:

Although his size hasn’t been officially verified, he appears tall and athletic. He has instinctive playmaking abilities on both offense and defense, coming from a football family—his father was an all-conference cornerback who played for successful TCU teams in the late 2000s. A three-sport athlete with talents in basketball and track, his athleticism translates well onto the football field. He’s known for his ability to finish plays at a high level and was productive across all facets of the game, including two special teams touchdowns in his junior year. As a receiver, he can stretch the field vertically, while on defense, he has the build to excel as a boundary corner, and his skills could also translate to safety. Although he may not be the fastest player, his unique running style keeps him from being caught from behind. Sanders is recognized as a genuine Power Four prospect in the secondary, with the potential for significant development that could lead to a notable college career and even possibilities in the NFL Draft.
