Maxx Crosby Breaks Silence on Season Ending Injury

After Confirming Surgery Decision Post Ankle Injury vs Tampa

This year has been the lowest of the lows for the Raiders. After week 14, they have a 2-11 win-loss record. But the problems which stopped them are slowly coming to light. Despite injury during most games, their DE Maxx Crosby persevered and continued playing. No more! It’s not possible, and he would not play any further games.

He revealed the situation to fans during a lengthy Instagram post. It was a shocker for the fans too. But he started his post by writing, “As much as this pains me to write, I will not be playing the rest of the season. Second time this year getting rolled up on the same ankle and now it will require surgery.” Maxx Crosby would not play the remaining 4 games of the regular season, as the Raiders are already out of the race to the playoffs.

His injuries were a problem during the entire time he played. During the week 2 game against the Ravens, he hurt his ankle but just sat out one game and came back on the field for the team. During the week 14 game against the Buccaneers, his injury again flared, pushing him for surgery. He wrote in his post, “Unfortunately, I got chopped blocked from the side and got another one, but even worse this time vs. Tampa.

Fans were worried about his condition, but Maxx Crosby raised their moods as well. He claimed that he would never change his playing style and mentioned, “I will get this surgery & be on a war path for greatness everyday and be back the best version of myself.” It’s an emotional message to the team, fans, and the sport. Everyone hopes he successfully recovers after the surgery and returns to the field stronger.

His loyalty to the Silver and the Black is unmatched in the current league scenario. But the franchise also values him. From the owner to the teammates, everyone loves him.

On December 16, Monday, he would meet Dr. Rob Anderson to check the extent of the injury and determine how the recovery process would go ahead. Amid these developments, many people in the NFL are carefully watching if he will return for the Raiders or not. He signed a 4-year, $94 million contract extension with them that has $53 million guaranteed and a $23.5 million annual salary.

Since the Raiders were not performing well in the 2024 season, many teams lined up to grab Maxx Crosby before the November 5 trade deadline. But the Raiders declined and the owner Mark Davis even went on to say, “We’re Not Trading Maxx Crosby. Before Or After the Trade Deadline!!!

This offseason too, in 2025, there would be multiple offers up for grabs. But the chances are low. The owners and the team know how valuable he is, both on and off the field.
