Matt Rhule quote on new OC Dana Holgorsen should fire up Nebraska fans

The Nebraska Cornhuskers needed some help on the offensive side of the ball after the conclusion of the 2024 season. With a quarterback like Dylan Raiola leading the way, the offensive play calling needs to be a bit more daring because he certainly has the talent to deliver. Head coach Matt Rhule knew that he wasn’t the one to make those daring calls, but he now has someone in the offensive coordinator position who will.
After Nebraska parted ways with Marcus Satterfield, who spent two seasons with the Cornhuskers, Rhule announced the hiring of Dana Holgorsen, who was an offensive consultant at first and then promoted to the offensive coordinator once the position was open. Holgorsen was fired from Houston back in 2023 and spent the last year working as an assistant, but there is a strong belief that his outgoing play-calling abilities are exactly what Nebraska needs.
When talking on the Always College Football podcast, Rhule spoke very highly about Holgorsen and about how excited he is for him to take over the play-calling duties.
“He’s a perfect fit for me because I can be kind of conservative, and he obviously is not,” Rhule said on the podcast. “I need that from someone I respect to kind of take the reins and go.”
Dana Holgorsen can take Nebraska’s offense to the next level, and fans should be excited
For Rhule to admit he can’t be as outgoing with the play calls like Holgorsen is great because it shows that not one man can do it all. Rhule has a lot to worry about. ahead coach, so he gave the offensive play-calling duties over to Holgorsen, and it should work out well for the Cornhuskers.
Holgorsen comes from the air-raid offense tree as he was once an assistant for the late Mike Leach, who certainly was not a conservative play caller.
Rhule went on to speak about Holgorsen’s time with the team so far, and one thing that he touched on was his relationship with the players. Rhule said it seems like Holgorsen simply loves being around the players. He obviously helps Rhule out as much as he can, but it seems like Holgorsen has found a good spot in the offensive coordinator position at Nebraska, and fans should be excited about the offense this next season.
