“Massive boost” As Nebraska lands Key Commitment In 4-Star Of 185 Weight

Cardinal Ritter College Prep’s running back, Jamarion Parker, revealed his decision to commit to Nebraska on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Parker’s coach, Brennan Spain, he views this commitment positively due to the strong rapport developed between Parker and Nebraska’s coaching staff, which includes Matt Rhule, Marcus Satterfield, and EJ Barthel.

Spain expressed that the match between Parker and Nebraska is exceptional because of the genuine care and support shown to him off the field. The consistent support and attention, not limited to football matters, have strengthened their bond. The collaborative effort of Coach EJ, Coach Rhule, and the offensive coordinator played a significant role in swaying Parker’s decision.

After Parker’s visit to a Huskers practice in April, it appeared that Nebraska was the frontrunner for his commitment, prompting him to schedule an official visit for June 21.

Parker’s commitment makes him the ninth addition to Nebraska’s recruitment class, with him being the second four-star recruit, following quarterback TJ Lateef’s commitment in May. Additionally, Parker is the second running back to join the class, alongside Conor Booth, who committed to Bishop Neumann.

During his time at Cardinal Ritter Prep, the junior running back recorded 1,644 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns last year. He also contributed with 16 catches for 267 yards and four touchdowns. Despite being injured during his sophomore year, Parker demonstrated his potential during his freshman year in track with an impressive 10.99-second time in the 100-meter dash.

Spain mentioned to 247Sports that one appealing factor about Parker is that he still has plenty of potential for growth, unlike many running backs who may have peaked by their senior year.

“He possesses great versatility and explosiveness, with the ability to turn unfavorable situations into positive outcomes. There is potential for him to gain an additional 15 to 20 pounds. With a track background, he showcases well-rounded skills. He is described as a running back with limited wear and tear, remaining relatively injury-free.”

Initially committed to Arkansas, Parker started exploring other options as more schools expressed interest in him.

According to the 247Sports evaluation of the four-star running back: “His track speed translates effectively on the football field, evident in his high yards per carry average and knack for scoring from any position. While he often outruns defenders, he also exhibits stop-and-go moves and elusiveness. He has displayed his receiving skills adequately and could potentially line up in the slot. He will need to bulk up to handle the physical demands at a higher level. Despite his high school dominance, he must prove his capability to grind out tough yards. A dynamic playmaker suited for various roles and offensive schemes, he might even be considered for kickoff return duties at the college level.”

Parker currently boasts 32 scholarship offers and holds a four-star rating on both 247Sports and 247Sports Composite rankings.
