Army West Point Swimming & Diving has introduced Megan Shaffer and Ryan Purdy as new assistant coaches, as confirmed today by Director of Swimming & Diving Brandt Nigro.
Shaffer joins the team after working as an assistant coach at Colgate University for two seasons, where she also served as the men’s recruiting coordinator. She expressed her excitement about joining the Army Swim and Dive team and praised the program’s vision and dedication. Shaffer played a key role in Colgate’s success in the Patriot League, with notable achievements in both women’s and men’s swimming.
Purdy, a former swimmer at the University of Arizona and the University of Iowa, brings his experience as a team captain and achievements in academics and athletics to the coaching staff at West Point. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the program’s growth and learn from top national coaches.
With the addition of Shaffer and Purdy, the coaching staff at Army West Point now consists of eight members, the maximum allowed by the NCAA.
