Notre Dame Fighting Irish defensive lineman is returning to campus for his fifth season.
Onye had missed most of the 2024 season for personal reasons. The redshirt junior played in the first five games, racking up seven tackles and one-and-a-half sacks.
Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman had been kind of vague about why Onye missed time. However, Onye is listed on the spring roster.
With transfers like Jarod Dawson and Elijah Hughes coming in and veterans Donovan Hinish and Gabriel Rubio returning, the Irish could be stout once again on the D line with Onye returning. Even with Howard Cross III and Rylie Mills departing.
