Defensive Line stud Malcolm Simpson out of Hitchcock, Texas, has decided to stay with his Nebraska commitment after a late push from the Texas Longhorns.
He announced on X that he was staying home with Terence Knighton, as mentioned in his decision.
This is fantastic news for the Cornhuskers, who are riding a wave of positive energy on the recruiting trail and the field after an improved performance against Wisconsin.
The 6-3 255lbs defensive lineman has enormous upside with raw power showing up in stopping the run, a precious commodity in the Big Ten. Depending on how much good weight he puts on in his first year or two in the program will decide where he ends up on the defensive line. He looks like a nasty run-stopper who could plug holes like a Nash Hutmacher.
The continuity of the staff at Nebraska has helped recruit players like Simpson, who has a strong bond with defensive line coach Knighton.
Let’s hope Nebraska can keep stockpiling talented linemen to fall in line behind players like Riley Van Poppel and Cameron Lenhardt. The Matt Rhule presence in Texas is still ever present, and to land a Texas native who has interest from the Longhorns is no mean feat.
