As we anticipate the kickoff between Notre Dame and Louisville this afternoon, updates have emerged regarding the status of two Cardinals players.
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, transfer wide receiver Caullin Lacy is likely to make his debut against the Irish today, stating he plans to “give it a shot” to get on the field. The senior had an impressive season in 2023 with South Alabama, recording 91 receptions for 1,316 yards and 7 touchdowns.
His return adds another offensive threat for Louisville to challenge the Notre Dame secondary. On the defensive side, it appears the Cardinals will be missing Quincy Riley, as Thamel reports he is doubtful for the game.
Riley is a key playmaker on their defense, having made an interception and forced a fumble this season. This presents a mixed bag of news for the Irish. Let’s hope the Notre Dame secondary is prepared for Lacy while the wide receivers capitalize on Riley’s absence.
