Los Angeles Rams GM Shares Important News Update
The Los Angeles Rams locked up their quarterback after a short tense negotiation that almost saw Matthew Stafford traded to the Las Vegas Raiders. But cooler heads prevailed and they have their answer at the position — for one year, that is. The Rams have been open that Stafford’s time with the team is year-to-year.
So the question remains — who is the future franchise QB for the Rams? This had led to the speculation that they might attempt to find the answer in the upcoming NFL draft.
Rams general manager Les Snead was asked about the QB draft class and had some illuminating thoughts on how it will play a bigger role than just who is available at the game’s most important position.
Lack Of 1st Round QB Talent Will Affect All Positions Targetted For The Los Angeles Rams Draft

Snead first explained how last year’s loaded draft class displaced talent back to later picks, to where the Rams could select Jared Verse, who went on to be the Defensive Rookie of the Year.
“Every draft has talent, it’ll be a fun draft only because you think about last year’s seven [quarterbacks]. I think we picked 19th. Last year, seven QBs went before pick 19. It’s probably why someone like Jared Verse got pushed to 19. You never know, maybe it would have fallen 19 anyway. Maybe he’d gone pick 15, I don’t know, a little bit earlier if it wasn’t for those seven QBs.”
This year that won’t be the case, there for it will change who will be available to the Rams at pick 26.
“It doesn’t seem like this year there’s gonna be seven QBs. That go before pick 19. So that is gonna be the, for the first time, how many QBs actually go in the first round? How many go before pick 15? All those things. And what that does now is, all of a sudden, what’s called position players start getting picked. Right? Earlier and earlier.”
“So it’s gonna be a fascinating draft of position players and not just QB-dominated. And it’ll be fun to take the day after the draft, whatever that storyline is, that’s gonna be irrelevant, that’ll be good content for maybe your show on Monday, maybe Tuesday. But I can tell you this, it’ll be interesting to see, right, how these players who get picked in this first round and even second round, things like that, what they’re doing two and three years down the road. Only because, hey, it’s gonna be the first year where it might be the least amount of QBs, you know, picked in the first round in a long time.”
Of course, this means the Rams will have their pick of likely the 3rd quarterback on their Rams Draft Big Board if they are interested in taking a flyer on Tyler Shough or Jaxson Dart.
